Our journey begins in the Lower Zambezi National Park, a wilderness framed by the escarpment on one side and the mighty Zambezi River on the other. Here, we’ll photograph elephants swimming between islands, hippos yawning in the shallows, and vibrant birdlife against the backdrop of ancient Ana tree forests. Few places in Africa offer such a mix of land and water photography opportunities.
Lower Zambezi is renowned for its relaxed elephant herds and predator action. With luck, we may even witness elephants rising onto their hind legs to feed from the canopy – a rare and unforgettable sight. From wild dogs on the hunt to lions along the riverbanks, the drama of predator-prey interactions in these stunning landscapes is sure to inspire incredible images.
What sets this park apart is the enchanting woodland habitat, teeming with wildlife. Canoeing along quiet channels or photographing reflections on tranquil waters provides perspectives you simply can’t find elsewhere. The Ana trees and wetlands create dreamy, painterly settings perfect for capturing both wildlife and landscape images.
From Lower Zambezi, we continue to South Luangwa—often called The Valley of the Leopard. With over 60 species of mammals and nearly 450 bird species, this park is one of Africa’s finest wildlife sanctuaries. The Luangwa River and its oxbow lagoons concentrate game in extraordinary numbers, offering unmatched photographic opportunities.
At Kaingo Camp, we’ll spend time in world-famous photographic hides: from low angles of hippos in the water to carmine bee-eaters nesting in the banks. Later, at Nsefu Camp in the exclusive Nsefu Sector, we’ll enjoy near-private access to one of the park’s most wildlife-rich regions. Each location has been chosen to maximize time with predators, endemic species, and unforgettable golden-hour light
Together, Lower Zambezi and South Luangwa create a perfect photographic pairing: forest and river, plains and predators, hides and open landscapes. More than just a safari, this is a chance to slow down, connect with nature, and capture rare moments in two of Africa’s most spectacular wilderness areas. This October, we look forward to creating images that tell stories of wild Zambia and to sharing them with you.
