More than just a photo tour

FROST Mobile Camp

Cultural Diversity

Traveling through Northern Kenya is an experience that lingers long after the journey ends. It is a place where landscapes shift dramatically—from the turquoise expanse of Lake Turkana to the stark beauty of the Chalbi Desert and the rugged, green peaks of Samburu. But what makes this journey truly unforgettable is the people. Meeting the Turkana, Rendille, Samburu, and El Molo communities is not just about taking images; it is about learning their stories, sharing moments of laughter, and understanding the traditions that have shaped their lives for generations. Whether witnessing the intricate beadwork of Samburu women, watching El Molo fishermen cast their nets in the lake, or sitting in the shade of an acacia tree listening to elders speak of the past, every interaction adds a layer of meaning to the photographs we capture.

Structure of Photo sessions

Each day is structured with morning and afternoon photo sessions to take advantage of the best natural light, capturing subjects in stunning landscapes. During the midday heat and harsh light, we focus on portrait photography under the shade, often using black or white cloth backgrounds. Our tour mixes natural interactions and documentary-style photography with more conceptualized compositions at carefully scouted locations, ensuring a diverse and compelling portfolio.

Our Exclusive Frost Mobile Camp

With this in mind, we are incredibly excited for our future tours, where we will introduce the FROST Mobile Camp—a unique, immersive experience exclusive to FROST guests only that allows us to stay closer to the communities and landscapes we photograph despite little infrastructure and accommodation found in these remote locations. Set up in remote, breathtaking locations, the camp allows us to wake up to the sounds of the wild and be fully present in our surroundings. This is the perfect opportunity to get away from it all—to connect with nature and immerse yourself in a wilder world. Nothing quite compares to the pure experience of wild camping.

Guests will enjoy spacious 4m bell tents equipped for comfort with a foam mattress on a stretcher, adequate bedding, towels, snacks, washbasin, solar light, table and chair. A generator is available to charge batteries. All, of course, is set up for you while you explore the neighboring area. A short walk under the trees leads you to a hanging bucket shower and a sheltered toilet (long drop.) While shooting the afternoon’s last rays of golden light, the camp cook will be preparing dinner. This is the perfect opportunity to get away from it all—to connect with nature and immerse yourself in a wilder world.

More than just a photo tour

This is not just a photography tour; it is an opportunity to connect, reflect, and truly experience one of Africa’s most remarkable regions.
