This exclusive tour will take you deep into the heart of the country, where you’ll visit the Toposa, Jiye, Larim, and Mundari tribes. Itinerary

  • Day 1: Day of Arrival

    Upon arrival in Juba, South Sudan’s vibrant capital,You’ll be met by a FROST representative and transferred to your accommodation for the night. Take a moment to enjoy your first glimpse of the White Nile, knowing that your adventure into the heart of South Sudan’s remote tribes begins the next day. Over dinner, you’ll have the chance to discuss your exciting South Sudan photo tour before settling in for some well-deserved rest.

  • Day 2-3: Toposa Tribe

    After a scenic domestic flight to Kapoeta, the gateway to South Sudan’s eastern lands, you'll travel by road to visit the Toposa Tribe. Over two days, you’ll immerse yourself in the Toposa culture, famous for their vibrant scarification, traditional attire, and architectural skills. Capture striking images of their daily life, from intricate beadwork to the stunning landscape surrounding their villages. With both morning and evening photography sessions, you'll have ample time to explore the intricacies of this proud, resilient tribe​.

  • Day 4-5: Jiye Tribe

    Next, you’ll journey from Toposa to the Jiye Tribe, where you’ll spend two days photographing the tribe’s fascinating way of life. The Jiye people are known for their distinct body markings and community practices, offering rich opportunities to capture their unique cultural expressions. With stunning backdrops of rugged, untouched terrain, your photography will delve into the daily rhythms of the Jiye, who remain largely untouched by the modern world​.

  • Day 6-7: Larim Tribe

    Travel deeper into the scenic wonders of South Sudan as you head to the Larim Tribe, tucked away amidst the dramatic mountains and hills of the region. Over the next two days, you’ll have the chance to photograph their beautiful villages nestled in these stunning landscapes. The Larim people offer an exceptional opportunity to combine portrait and landscape photography, making this part of your South Sudan photo tour a visual feast. Early morning and late afternoon shoots will allow you to capture the dramatic light as it plays across the terrain.

  • Day 8: Journey to Juba

    After your time in the wilderness, return to Juba for a well-deserved rest. Enjoy the comforts of your hotel once more, where you can relax, refresh, and reflect on the incredible South Sudan photo tour so far. Use this time to back up and review your photographs, or explore the city’s vibrant markets and cultural sites before your next adventure with the Mundari Tribe.

  • Day 9-10: Mundari Tribe

    The next leg of your South Sudan photo tour brings you to the famous Mundari Tribe, renowned for their deep connection to their cattle. You’ll be fully immersed in their unique culture, photographing the iconic scenes of life in a cattle camp. Early morning and late afternoon shoots offer breathtaking opportunities to capture the glowing light filtering through the dust, as well as the towering horns of the Ankole-Watusi cattle. The Mundari's bond with their livestock is central to their way of life, making this part of the tour a true highlight for both cultural and portrait photography​.

  • Day 11: Return to Juba & depart

    After bidding farewell to the Mundari, you’ll make your way back to Juba reflecting on the remote cultures and landscapes you’ve captured before being transferred to the airport for your international departure.

Tour Cost

US$13,985 per person based on a small group size limited to 4-6 participants hosted by FROST photo tour leader Kirsten Frost. There is no single supplement charge for this tour.

  • List of Inclusions

    We pride ourselves on offering top-tier travel experiences with extensive lists of inclusions for all our tours to mitigate surprise costs so you can focus on the experience while we handle the rest. This tour includes:

    • Hotel accommodation in Juba on Day 1 & 8;
    • Exclusive use of our very own FROST Mobile Camp (spacious 4m diameter bell tents);
    • Domestic flight Juba - Kapoeta;
    • Transport in 4x4 vehicles including airport transfers;
    • All equipment and an experienced team to set up the camp;
    • All meals from dinner on Day 1 to breakfast on Day 11;
    • A cook catering all meals at the FROST Mobile Camp;
    • Gratuities for the local team;
    • Bottled water for the duration of the tour;
    • AMREF Flying Doctors emergency medical evacuation cover;
    • Services of experienced local guides and drivers;
    • All entry fees for activities mentioned in the itinerary;
    • All permits required for tourism activity;
    • $10/day contribution to the FROST Socio-environmental Fund; and
    • Hands-on Photographic tutoring by Photo Tour Leader Kirsten Frost.
  • List of Exclusions
    • Any flights aside from those mentioned in the inclusions;
    • Beverages aside from drinking water;
    • Any activities not included in the itinerary;
    • Items of a personal nature;
    • Travel and medical insurance;
    • All statutory increases beyond our control;
    • Any unforeseen tax increases; and
    • Anything not mentioned in inclusions.
